We’ve got good news and bad news about Simon Guobadia. The good news is that the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams is no longer being held in an ICE detention center. The bad news? He got deported back to his home country of Nigeria, but this isn’t the first time this has happened to him. All of a sudden, Porsha’s divorce just got even more complicated.
Simon Guobadia spent months in ICE custody

We’ve been following Simon’s complicated immigration status for the last year, when reports surfaced showing that he overstayed his visa nearly thirty years ago. The United States deported him for the first time in 1992. However, Simon managed to obtain a green card that same year. Allegedly, he obtained that green card under fraudulent circumstances, so his attempts to become a permanent citizen were repeatedly denied.
In February 2025, while still very much wrapped up in his divorce from Porsha, ICE apprehended Simon and took him to a facility outside of Atlanta. He’s been stuck there ever since. It’s all a part of the President’s mass deportation plan.
According to a new report from Us Weekly, the Department of Homeland Security released Simon from the ICE detention center in early June. They immediately placed him on a flight to his home country of Nigeria.
The outlet spoke with one of Simon’s close friends, who confirmed that Simon is safe and sound. He’s in good spirits. He’s also not mad that POTUS’ deportation efforts got him kicked out of the United States. Apparently, he wants to have a meeting with the president. He must have taken a note from the Savannah Chrisley playbook.
Of course, this latest development in Simon’s immigration case adds another layer of mess for his ongoing divorce from Porsha. A judge scheduled a hearing for June 11 to address their ongoing fight over their prenuptial agreement. The ICE agents were going to take him there. Now that he’s back in Nigeria, perhaps he’ll have to attend via Zoom.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta continues on Bravo every Sunday at 8/7c and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
