Another Love Is Blind couple has called it quits. This time, it’s Season 5’s Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson. The two tied the knot on the Netflix series, leading us to believe that they went on to live a happily ever after. According to Lydia, life after the pods turned into a nightmare.
Lydia recently appeared on the What’s the Reality podcast with fellow Love Is Blind alum AD Smith. During the hour-long episode, Lydia dropped bombshell after bombshell about her three-year marriage to Milton. Apparently, their troubles started in October 2022, just six months after tying the knot.

According to Lydia, Milton remained in contact with a woman he had previously dated. He refused to cut her off, causing some tension for the newlyweds. It all came to a head when she discovered text messages that supposedly showed him talking to a friend about how badly he wanted to have sex with his ex.
Although they were only months into their marriage, the two decided to go to couples therapy to address their issues. She quickly realized it wasn’t working, and she felt like she was losing her “spark.”
“Maybe the internet was right, that he wasn’t ready for marriage,” Lydia said. “I don’t think he was ready to be a husband.”
Still, she continued on with this man, but things continued to get worse. She said he would get mad at her for wearing certain swimsuits, claiming she “disrespected him” with her swimwear choices. Seriously, she described red flag after red flag when talking about her marriage on this podcast.
In September 2024, things took another dark turn for Lydia when she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She felt hopeful that Milton would be a supportive husband, but once again, he let her down.
Lydia said, “Instead of him being my support, he told me, ‘You’re not dying, you just have to eat healthy and work out.’”
As if that wasn’t enough, she then found out Milton kept contacting other women, just like he was doing six months after their wedding. That was the final straw, and she asked him for a divorce in March 2025. Supposedly, he’s given her the silent treatment ever since.
Keep in mind, Lydia is 34, and Milton is 27. When she told him that she wanted a divorce, they were living in his parents’ house. These days, she’s crashing with a friend, and on the podcast, she told AD that she’s looking forward to her next chapter. However, her heart is still a little bruised.
“I still love him, unfortunately, I do,” Lydia admitted.
