Of course, everyone knows that Kim Zolciak has been experiencing some money trouble. We just didn’t realize it was this bad. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star owes over $1.8 million in taxes and other fees, which comes just months after the foreclosure of the home she shared with Kroy Biermann. It’s a messy situation, and Kim has got to find a way out of it.
Kim Zolciak is in dire financial straits amid tax and fee woes
Daily Mail first reported the news on Kim’s increasingly complicated money situation. Court filings reviewed by the outlet revealed that Kim and Kroy owe $1,147,834.67 to the United States. The staggering total comes from tax liens dating all the way back to 2013.
That’s just the federal taxes. The Don’t Be Tardy stars were also issued a state tax lien for $15,104.72 in March 2023. That hasn’t been paid, so the current payoff amount jumped to $17,610.40.
In the outlet’s deep dive into Kim’s financial struggles, they revealed that she also owes a substantial amount of money in attorney fees related to her divorce from Kroy, which they’ve since called off. She reportedly owes $33,191.65 to one attorney, according to a lien filed against her in February 2024. Another lawyer in the ongoing divorce is owed an estimated $143,950.91.
Kim is also still tied up in various lawsuits with credit card issuers. She has a Target credit card that got out of control in addition to an American Express. At one point, money got so tight that she had to dip into her daughter’s influencer money.
There’s no clear plan on how Kim will get out of this money situation, but it’s worth noting that she is trying to work in the reality TV world. This summer, she’ll appear on E!’s Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind, where she’ll contemplate whether or not she wants to move forward with a more natural look. The paycheck from that show isn’t going to cover her enormous debt, but it’s better than nothing.
