Now Was Not the Time to Cancel Denise Richards and Her Wild Things — Opinion

Denise Richards has been called many things: Bond girl, soap star, Real Housewife, and tabloid magnet. But now we have to add another, far less fabulous title: canceled. That’s right, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things has officially been axed after just one season, and frankly? We’re not okay.

The show may not have had decades of Bravo history behind it, but it had something even better: chaos, charisma, and Denise being peak Denise. Love her or side-eye her, no one can deny that Denise is reality TV gold. And canceling her at this exact moment? It’s not just a bad call. It’s a missed opportunity of epic proportions. Let’s get into it.

Denise Richards and Her Wild Things cancelled

In a move that shocked fans and delighted haters, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things was quietly canceled by Bravo after just one season. No reunion. No announcement. Just a slow fade into the background of the network’s schedule. And honestly, it feels shady. The show, which followed Denise, her soon-to-be ex-husband, her daughters, her dogs, and her delightfully unhinged home life, delivered exactly what it promised. It was wonky and it was chaotic. It was full of denim-on-denim confessionals and awkward backyard conversations. But it was also, crucially, authentic.

This wasn’t some overproduced, faux-glam Housewives spin-off. It gave us the messy magic of a woman trying to balance family, fame, and a whole lot of unresolved tension within her family. In short, it was fun. And just when things were starting to heat up, the plug was pulled. Remind us again why we’re keeping shows about real estate agents in wigs and not this?

Denise Richards’ divorce won’t be filmed

Timing, as they say, is everything. And unfortunately, the timing for this cancellation couldn’t have been worse. Just as Denise’s marriage to Aaron Phypers started crumbling behind the scenes, cameras stopped rolling. Talk about a wasted storyline. Let’s be clear: Denise’s personal life has never been boring. From her high-profile divorce from Charlie Sheen to the eyebrow-raising moments with Aaron on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she’s always been a magnet for drama. And now, as her marriage with Aaron heads toward divorce court, we’re missing the juiciest chapter yet.

Reports suggest that Denise and Aaron have been struggling for a while. The Daily Mail source noted, “They have been having trouble for some time, but they had a row over the weekend where they basically were like ‘f*ck you,’ and he marched off to file for divorce. All they were doing was fighting. It was very toxic.” Now with no cameras in sight, we’re left piecing it together through Instagram clues and vague sources close to the couple. It’s giving mystery, but not in a good way. Was Denise willing to film the breakdown of her marriage? Who knows. But if she was, and the network still pulled the plug? That’s a reality TV crime. And if she wasn’t, well at least give us her side of the story, confessional-style, with a glass of rosé. We deserve that much.

Denise Richards’ show was actually entertaining

Let’s not rewrite history. Denise Richards & Her Wild Things may not have been prestige TV, but it was entertaining in a way only Denise can deliver. It had zero pretension, maximum weirdness, and a cast of characters who seemed plucked straight from a Bravo-meets-Lifetime fever dream. Watching Denise attempt to wrangle her daughters, dodge awkward questions about Aaron, and manage her career while living in two condos was strangely addictive. Something was endearing about how unpolished it was like we were finally seeing the real woman behind the glam shots and Bravo drama.

And the show had potential. Denise was clearly warming up to drop some bombs in Season 2. The tension with her kids? The lunch dates with Charlie. The Aaron elephant in every room? That’s the kind of slow-burn drama that reality fans live for. Instead, we’re left with a single season and a thousand unanswered questions. It’s the TV equivalent of ending a meal after the appetizer. And we were hungry.

Denise Richards & Her Wild Things is streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
