Tributes continue to pour in for Roy Black, the recently departed husband of Real Housewives of Miami star Lea Black. During an episode of his radio show, Andy Cohen shared his condolences, and he revealed the surprising way that he met the couple, years before they were on Bravo. It’s such an unbelievable story that it sounds like something out of a movie.
Andy Cohen met Lea Black at work years before The Real Housewives of Miami

Picture it: Florida, 1990s. Andy was working for CBS as a morning news producer. Meanwhile, Roy was prosecuting a major case. Andy’s bosses at CBS sent him down to Florida to cover it.
“I was sent down for the morning show at CBS in the ’90s. When there was a huge trial, and [when] there still is, all the networks try to book the jurors,” Andy recalled during the July 23 episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.
“And so I was sent down to Florida to book a juror in the William Kennedy Smith trial, prosecuted by Roy Black. The juror I booked was Lea Black.”
Andy continued, “She was on the jury, and I guess they were kind of noticing each other the whole time. She wound up marrying him. And, anyway, so I always felt kind of a special connection that she many years later wound up becoming a Real Housewife.”
So, Lea and Roy met right there in the courtroom. Years later, their paths crossed with Andy for RHOM. Small world, right?
Lea and Roy eventually tied the knot in 1994. Roy passed away on July 21 at his home due to an illness, but clearly, he lived a pretty spectacular life.
The Real Housewives of Miami airs on Bravo on Wednesdays at 8/7c. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
