She’s a cover girl! Real Housewives of New York star Luann de Lesseps is gracing the cover of this month’s Playgirl, and it isn’t the first time she’s done it. In 1990, she posed behind a shirtless cowboy on the magazine’s cover. 30 years later, she’s still posing with a shirtless guy, but this time, she’s the one in the spotlight.
Luann de Lesseps has already been on the cover of Playgirl once before
As RHONY fans know, Luann worked as a nurse and then became a model long before she graced our screens on Bravo. In her cover story with Playgirl, she reminisced on her unexpected path back to their front page. According to Luann, it wasn’t easy.
Luann explained that modeling in New York was difficult, and she wound up going to Europe. There, she credited her run in the Lady Universe pageant for catapulting her to success. She said it gave her “exposure to a whole milieu of people, including the Spumante family and the Pellegrino people.”
Eventually, she became the “Vanna White of Italian TV,” and later met the Count during a ski trip in Switzerland. They tied the knot and bounced back and forth between New York and Switzerland before finally settling in the Big Apple. Switzerland couldn’t keep up with her.
“It’s very quiet. It’s beautiful, but you’re living amongst the mountain goats,” Luann told the outlet.
Thank goodness they settled on New York City, because that paved the way for her to become a Bravo star. Now, she’s touring the world with her cabaret show and gracing the cover of the magazine as a cover star. She’s no longer just the model standing behind a man.
