In Season 19 of Real Housewives of Orange County, Katie Ginella said that Slade Smiley called her husband to help steer their on-screen conversations about Gretchen Rossi’s “naked wasted” night. According to Vicki Gunvalson, that sounded pretty on-brand.
During a recent episode of her podcast, she said that Slade has a habit of calling producers to try to help out Gretchen. The whole thing has left fans with a serious case of the ick.

The OG of the OC spilled major tea about Slade on her podcast, My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast. According to her, she saw firsthand how Slade inserts himself into the Housewives drama. She said it happened when they filmed Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Morocco.
Of course, that season never made it to air, but Vicki said Slade was regularly making phone calls while they were on the trip. It adds credence to what Katie has been saying about her experiences with him and Gretchen.
“Slade’s a caller,” Vicki began on the pod. “When we were in [Morocco], he called a lot to the producers and wanted to manufacture [drama] and help Gretchen out.”
“He was calling her asking what she was wearing, asking what drama there was, calling Clark, our producer, trying to figure out what was going on there,” Vicki continued.
Vicki couldn’t understand why Slade was getting so involved in what was supposed to be a lighthearted trip. She said they were just “six or eight girls having fun,” and they didn’t need a husband getting involved.
“We’re not filming The Housewives of Orange County, so it wasn’t like, ‘Let’s go hurt somebody and kill somebody. Figure out a way to hurt them,’” Vicki continued. “That’s not what the [Morocco] trip was about.”
With all of that in mind, Vicki said she found it “really weird” that Slade called Matt Ginella. She’s not the only person feeling that way. The whole thing is odd, and for the sake of everyone’s sanity, we’re hoping there’s a conclusion to this in Season 19. If not, Vicki might need to come on Season 20 and handle it herself.
