Mariah Carey’s Hilarious Response After Being Asked How Much Money All I Want for Christmas Is You Has Made

Mariah Carey has become synonymous with Christmas thanks to that 90s hit. Given that there’s no escaping All I Want for Christmas Is You from mid-November every year, we can probably assume that the singer is receiving some pretty hefty royalty checks. Andy Cohen recently asked just how much bag the song is pulling in – here’s what Mariah said.

Mariah Carey wasn’t forthcoming with an answer for Andy Cohen

Mariah has proven once again she’s a pro at dodging questions. In a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy had some rather probing questions for the star. He asked what we’d probably all be curious to know – how much money her 1994 Christmas hit has netted her. The singer adopted a dicey English accent, saying: “Oh my gosh, you’re really going to ask me that question? How gauche!”

She reverted back to her own accent, saying “just kidding”, before skilfully dodging the question. When nudged by Andy with: “the checks are still bountiful, right?” the singer gave a telling look at the host before nodding her head. She added that she’s “extremely thankful” that she wrote the song.

While the singer remained tightlipped about the actual figure, some reports have estimated it could be as much as $3 million a year. Not bad considering she says she wrote it pretty quickly with the help of a Casio keyboard.

During the WWHL episode, Mariah also addressed her feud with Eminem. Andy asked her if there was any truth to the rumor that the beef started after the rapper asked her to play his mom in 8 Mile.

She replied: “Um, no. I mean, maybe. It depends what he’s thinking. I really don’t care. Like, whatever he’s said, then I’m that, fine. Not really. But that’s a rap lyric.”

So that’s cleared up.
