Former Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis is still facing the ramifications of her actions. For some reason, celebrities seem to have zero understanding that drinking and driving is dangerous and illegal. In May 2024, Kathryn decided to get behind the wheel in Goose Creek, South Carolina, after drinking alcohol.
Unfortunately, Kathryn was involved in a crash with two other vehicles. Police officers noted that the reality star had “glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from her person.” She was arrested and also charged with driving with an open container. Police officers searched her car and found several mini Fireball bottles in a bag.

Kathryn was convicted of DUI and received a sentence of 30 days in jail. She is just a few days into her prison stint, and now she is getting more bad news. US Weekly reported that Larry Patrick Griffin filed a lawsuit against Kathryn on August 14, 2025, stemming from this accident.
According to Larry, he was stopped in traffic when the car behind him was hit in the rear by Kathryn’s vehicle. This caused a chain reaction crash. In the court papers, Larry claimed that the Southern Charm alum was “under the influence and sway of alcohol and/or controlled substances.”
In addition, Larry alleged that he suffered injuries from the 2024 accident. Larry noted that he has “suffered serious bodily injury, pain and suffering, and mental anguish, and will continue to do so in the future.”
He added that Kathryn made a “conscious decision to drive a motor vehicle on a public roadway while under the influence and intoxication of alcoholic beverages.” In his lawsuit, Larry is asking for unspecified damages. As of now, Kathryn has not made any comment about the lawsuit.
