Well, that was fast! Southern Charm alum Kathryn Dennis is already out of jail, less than two weeks after going behind bars for a DUI charge. She was originally supposed to spend a full 30 days in jail, but she’s been set free. We’ve got the details on her early release.
Southern Charm alum Kathryn Dennis spent 11 days in jail
Kathryn’s legal trouble started in May 2024, when she rear-ended a stopped car, causing a chain reaction with another vehicle. When the cops arrived, her eyes were glossy, and they found a bunch of mini bottles of Fireball in her car. Thus, they arrested her, and the dashcam captured her having a full-blown crash out over it.
Fast forward to October 3, and the Southern Charm alum was convicted of DUI and sentenced to 30 days in jail at the Berkeley County Hill-Finklea Detention Center in South Carolina. However, according to Us Weekly, she’s now free and back on the streets. Based on their reporting, it sounds like the outlet called up the jail to confirm.
“She walked out [of the building] about 5 minutes ago,” an officer from the sheriff’s office told them.
We’re not sure why she served less than half of the original sentence. She must have been on her best behavior while sitting behind bars. Either way, this drama isn’t over just yet.
Before they threw Kathryn in jail, one of the people involved in her drunken car accident sued her, claiming he suffered “serious” injuries as a result of the crash. The lawsuit cited the Southern Charm star’s drunken demeanor, and he said that he “suffered serious bodily injury, pain and suffering, and mental anguish, and will continue to do so in the future.”
The victim is requesting unspecified damages, and we’ll keep you updated as things play out in court. In the meantime, let this serve as yet another reminder to stop drinking and driving.
