Eboni K Williams Predicts Jail Time for Wendy and Eddie Osefo

It doesn’t take a law degree to know that Wendy Osefo is in big trouble, but getting a lawyer’s perspective certainly doesn’t hurt. Real Housewives of New York alum Eboni K. Williams just weighed in on Wendy and Eddie Osefo’s legal drama, and her outlook for the Real Housewives of Potomac couple doesn’t seem too promising.

Of course, the couple remains innocent until proven guilty, but in the meantime, Eboni predicts that the couple could face some serious prison time if the insurance fraud charges stick.

The RHONY alum appeared on the October 16 episode of Carlos King’s podcast, Reality with the King. The pair discussed the shocking charges levied against Wendy and Eddie. During the chat, Eboni explained why she believes the pair will end up serving time behind bars.

“If they are convicted, they will serve time,” Eboni predicted.

Although Wendy and Eddie are nonviolent, first-time offenders, Eboni believes the prosecutors could use them as an example because they’re “wealthy, famous, Black people.” She pointed out a few “harsh” comments made by the sheriff’s office in an October 10 press conference that seemed to suggest an extra layer of scrutiny towards the couple.

“When the state attorney came out, and one of the first things he said out of his mouth was, ‘Don’t think of insurance fraud as a victimless crime,'” Eboni remarked.

“He didn’t have to say that,” she continued. “That was making sure the first foundational premise of his remarks was that this impacts you and me. This impacts every American that holds an insurance policy in any capacity, and all of us are impacted negatively when people go about the business of committing insurance fraud.”

Wendy faces 16 charges, seven of which are felonies. Eddie faces 18 charges, including nine felonies. In the state of Maryland, these charges carry a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. They have an initial hearing scheduled for November 7, so stay tuned for updates.

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs on Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo. Stream it the next day on Peacock.
