There is drama in the ballroom! Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars has showcased some phenomenal dancing and surprising controversy. While Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt and pro Mark Ballas are frontrunners for the Mirrorball, they are not immune to some of the backstage shenanigans.
Earlier this season, Whitney reportedly shared a tense exchange with actress Danielle Fishel following a DWTS elimination. And it wasn’t a flattering moment for Whitney. And now, she and Mark are being called out for making an offer to fans that they later had to retract. Yikes!
What happened to Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas’ Dancing with the Stars giveaway?
So, the dancing duo planned to send two fans to a live DWTS show. However, Mark and the MomTok influencer later posted via TikTok, explaining that their plans were a no-go. “So, we have some bad news. We just got out of rehearsal, and we were both informed that we actually can’t do a giveaway for the Dancing with the Stars live show,” Whitney said. Mark added that the verdict “has come directly from ABC and BBC and is completely out of our hands.”
Whitney stated, “It just really sucks because Mark and I just want to do something really special for you guys that have shown us so much support and love, for us and the show. We’re gonna get creative.”
Well, fans weren’t excited about Whitney and Mark’s idea, and they sounded off in the comments. “No kidding … ‘vote for us and I’ll give you a gift’ that’s rigging the whole thing,” a user wrote. “It would be like bribing the audience. Of course, they aren’t allowed to do that. It’s a competition,” another fan added.
However, some fans spoke out in support of the partners. “If it was anyone else, these comments would not be half as hateful,” a fan wrote. Meanwhile, Whitney has received some backlash because of her dance background.
Dancing with the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It will stream on Hulu the next day.
