Former Real Housewives of Miami star Joanna Krupa shared why she turned down the opportunity to return to the show. The series was revived in 2021, and she was approached to return, but decided it wasn’t the right choice for her at that point in her life. She’s found more meaningful work with her new animal rescue show, in spending time with her family, and living a relatively drama-free life.
If a drama-free life is what Joanna’s after, she made the right choice. She was quite the polarizing cast member in RHOM when she was there for seasons 2 and 3. At the time the Season 4 cast was announced, Joanna said she had other commitments in Poland and wanted to focus on being a mom. Most of that was true, but she also wanted to avoid the drama.
Joanna Krupa isn’t against reality TV entirely
“I was approached. I did have conversations about it (returning),” Joanna confessed to Page Six Radio on SiriusXM. “They asked me to think about it. But being a mother, I feel like it’s not the time in my life.”
The host and model added that she’s not opposed to reality TV. However, joining a show as dramatic and fiery as the Housewives just didn’t feel right with her. “I wouldn’t want my daughter to see Mama in that kind of situation because those shows are dramatic.”
She’s not wrong though. Housewives is very dramatic. Everyone still remembers her infamous lawsuit against Brandi Glanville for saying she was a homewrecker and bringing up her “lady bits.”
Joanna is now the mother of a 5-year-old daughter whom she shares with her now ex-husband Dougles Nunes. She admitted that in the Housewives world, “if you have no drama,” you’re in danger of losing your job. According to her, this is why sometimes it may feel like cast members are manufacturing their own drama.
“We all know these women will go out of their. They will backstab eventually. They will go below the belt eventually,” Joanna shared. Because of that, RHOM is “definitely not something” that she wanted to revisit.
For now, Joanna is happy to split her time between Los Angeles and Poland, where she hosts Poland’s Next Top Model. She’s also focusing on her new show Street Rescue, where she helps animals in need. She doesn’t need a show like RHOM to pay her bills and she doesn’t need to “sell her soul to make a living.”
The Real Housewives of Miami is streaming on Peacock.
