At one point, Wendy Osefo’s episode of Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition was supposed to be the first episode of the new series. Bravo quickly had to scramble things around in the aftermath of her shocking fraud arrest, literally swapping out her episode with another. Now, the Real Housewives of Potomac star’s episode is finally getting ready to air, but we have a sinking feeling that none of it will age well.
Wendy Osefo jumped into Wife Swap “headfirst”
The former college professor spoke to OK! Magazine about her journey on Wife Swap. The interview made zero mention of the elephant in the room, but it’s impossible not to think about her seven felony charges while she talked about diving “headfirst” into the Housewives spinoff show.
“I’m one of those people where I jump into things headfirst, then think about the consequences later,” Wendy said of her decision to do Wife Swap.
She continued, “I was like, ‘This will be great!’ I can look back on this when I’m 90 years old and say, ‘Look what I did!’”
On the other hand, she said her husband, Eddie Osefo, had more questions. The lawyer and cannabis entrepreneur felt a little more hesitant about swapping wives.
Wendy recalled, “He was like, ‘Wait, what is this? What are we doing? How long is this?’ It was a mixed bag. But we talked through it. Then it all made sense and we decided, ‘Hey, why not?'”
Famous last words! Either way, Wendy wound up swapping lives with a woman named Alethea Shapiro. She said she went into her home “with love” and felt excited to do a show that “centers around women’s experiences with motherhood.”
“Motherhood is not easy. It’s not for the faint of heart,” Wendy said. “You get to see two women, myself and Alethea, navigating the same thing, but doing it in the ways we know what is best, which is what makes the show so interesting.”
Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo and streams on Peacock.
