RHOSLC’s Mary Cosby Is Tired of Bloggers and Fans Becoming Storyline: ‘Why Get So Emotional?’ — Exclusive

After watching Mary Cosby for a few seasons on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, I’ve noticed a huge change. The Mary we saw in the earlier seasons — quiet, a little distant, and not fully participating — has transformed. Now, she’s one of the most confident, outspoken members of the group.

I had the chance to sit down with her recently, and she opened up about her journey, and why she’s done with the increasing influence of bloggers and leaks on the show. Here’s what she had to say…

Why Mary Cosby is over bloggers, fans, and leaks shaping RHOSLC drama

Let’s talk about something that’s been bothering Mary this season: the influence of bloggers and leaks on the show. We’ve all noticed how much external sources have been affecting the drama lately, and Mary is not here for it.

“I don’t believe in it. I don’t like it,” she said, with a pretty clear frustration. “Why get emotional over something from a source whose job is to stir the pot?”

Mary’s position is pretty straightforward: stop letting bloggers, over-eager fans, and leaks define the narrative. “What’s true and what’s not? Who knows?” she said, echoing the sentiment we’ve all felt at some point — how much of what we’re seeing is truly real, and how much of it is just based on speculation and external gossip?

She continued, “I don’t know how these women keep bringing in bloggers and caring about what’s true and what’s not. Why get so emotional about something that’s coming from a source [where] that’s their job?”

Mary’s words hit home. Why are we letting external drama dictate the direction of the show? For Mary, the drama should unfold based on what happens on-screen; not what’s leaked behind the scenes. That’s the kind of realness she’s trying to bring to the table.

Mary reflects on feeling “uncomfortable” on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City

When Mary first appeared on RHOSLC, she wasn’t exactly diving headfirst into the drama. In fact, it was clear she was uncomfortable with how everything was unfolding. “I was uncomfortable, and I wasn’t going to fake it,” Mary admits. That’s a sentiment we could all feel through the screen, right? There was definitely a sense that Mary wasn’t quite sure how to engage with the group in a meaningful way.

But things have changed for her, and she knows it. “Now, I’m more comfortable being myself,” Mary said. “I like the women, and they like me. It’s a dynamic that was a little off at first, but now we’re closer.”

It’s not that Mary didn’t want to be a part of the group, she just wasn’t sure where she fit. But as time has passed, she’s found her place, and it’s showing. “When I’m accepted by the group, it allows me to be myself,” she continued. That acceptance, which she says took some time, has allowed Mary to engage more deeply with her co-stars — and you can tell it’s made a huge difference.

How Mary became RHOSLC’s voice of reason

Something I found really interesting in our conversation was when Mary talked about her role in the group this season. She’s stepped into the role of being the voice of reason. Given how much chaos surrounds these women, Mary is the one who’s bringing common sense when everyone else is caught up in the drama.

“I use common sense, and I think that’s lacking in the group sometimes,” she says, with a knowing smile.

And it’s so true. With all the high emotions on RHOSLC, sometimes you just need that grounded presence, someone to slow things down and offer a little perspective. Mary definitely has that vibe this season.

“But that’s me,” she adds. “I’m not afraid to say what’s on my mind.”

Mary’s authenticity is really what’s so refreshing about her. She’s not here to add fuel to the fire, but if something doesn’t make sense, she’ll say it. And that’s what makes her stand out in a sea of more performative behavior. It’s her realness that gives her that undeniable presence in the group.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is available to stream on Hayu in Canada, the UK, and Ireland.
