Stories About Prince Harry & Kate Middleton’s ‘Closeness’ Resurface

Old tales about Prince Harry and Kate Middleton’s friendship are coming back into the spotlight. Grant Harrold, former butler to King Charles, has reflected on their bond in his new book, “The Royal Butler,” highlighting just how well the two once got along. As such, Harrold paints a picture of a genuine friendship long before duty, distance, and time stepped in and began to change it.

Royal butler once claimed that Kate Middleton and Prince Harry were quite close

Radar Online reported that, in his book, “The Royal Butler,” royal author Grant Harrold looks back on Prince Harry and Kate Middleton’s famous friendship. He also reflects on the short time in 2007 when Prince William and Kate Middleton briefly broke up, noting that Harry and the Princess of Wales always shared a close rapport — the kind that stood out even within the palace.

Harrold wrote, “They got on so well,” adding, “I even thought that maybe Harry and she would get together.” Moreover, he described them as “that close” and said they were “best friends.” Nevertheless, he added that he was glad William and Kate reunited.

The author’s memories highlight a lighter side of royal life. Years before rifts and distance shaped the family’s dynamic, Harrold remembered their laughter and natural friendship, which he said made them enjoyable to be around. At the time, people widely saw the warmth between Harry and Middleton as a positive reflection of their close bond with William.

Now, Harrold’s remarks have stirred old chatter about the period when Prince Harry and Kate Middleton were like two peas in a pod. This, in turn, has renewed discussions online about how close they once appeared.

The author’s recollections do not make any new claims beyond his own observations. Still, they have brought back public curiosity about those early years between Harry, William, and the Princess of Wales. Nearly two decades later, his comments are a reminder of a friendlier time in royal history.
