The long-awaited Vanderpump Rules reboot finally arrived. An all-new cast of SURvers have clocked into the Bravoverse, ready to step into the enormous void left behind in the aftermath of Scandoval.
Bravo took their time building up to this moment. Pump Rules spent over a year on pause, with the producers promising to get us back to the glory days. However, after the first episode premiered, it’s clear that plenty of fans still haven’t bought into this new direction.
Pump Rules fans aren’t all convinced by the new cast for Season 12

From OnlyFans models to aspiring actors, the new Pump Rules crew features people who clearly want to be on television. Although this was also the case with the original VPR cast, there’s something about this new generation that didn’t land with fans.
Headed up by Lisa Vanderpump, Season 12 premiered on Tuesday, December 2, with the new cast. They threw us back into the world of messy love triangles and restaurant drama. On paper, it had all of the other things you’d expect from VPR. Fans had plenty of thoughts on social media.
“The problem with these reboots with these new casts is that it’s obvious they’re actors or trying too hard to be famous, forcing fake storylines from minute 1. It’s not flowing naturally,” wrote one user on X.
Another added, “Pump Rules worked because the cast was being themselves at their real jobs with real friends … this reboot is off because the new cast is mostly influencers who have no reason to even be working in a bar, and are just performing for TV moments and mess.”
Not everyone felt this critical of the show. Some viewers were eager to dive headfirst into a fresh helping of SURver mess. Whether or not it felt authentic didn’t matter.
“The new #PumpRules cast has two overlapping love triangles, including one involving a 54-year-old SUR employee named Paulo whose face they can’t show … It’s giving mess (complimentary),” celebrated one viewer.
Of course, we can never judge a show just by its premiere. There’s a full season set to unfold, so it’s not too late for opinions to change — for better or for worse.
Vanderpump Rules airs on Bravo on Tuesday nights at 9/8c, along with next-day streaming on Peacock. The show streams on Hayu in Canada, the UK and Ireland.
