Real Housewives of Atlanta star Shamea Morton has just filed a lawsuit against one of her former Atlanta-based doctors. As she claims, this provider “negligently” burned her during a routine treatment. So now, Shamea is clapping back at this practice. And she is doing so via a medical malpractice suit based on her 2024 experience.
Shamea Morton claims she has “extensive permanent scarring” after a chemical peel

According to People, Shamea is currently accusing a local doctor of “negligently burning” her during a chemical peel. In her claim, Shamea names Dr Jing Jing Wong Harris and her company, Pretty Faces Atlanta, as the defendants. All Shamea wanted was a freshened-up face, but she was reportedly left with “extensive permanent scarring” instead.
Moreso, as the complaint outlines, Shamea has a fungal skin condition called Tinea Versicolor. Due to this, she “should never have undergone a chemical peel.” What this practice should have done instead was refer her to another “trained and qualified dermatologist.”
Further complicating matters, her March 20124 treatment was “negligently and recklessly applied” by an employee of Pretty Faces Atlanta, Lauren M. Davis. As this suit states, Lauren’s license as an assistant cosmetic laser practitioner lapsed in 2019.
Regardless, Lauren reportedly “applied double the amount of the chemical peel recommended by the manufacturer, resulting in second-degree chemical burns, blistering, and permanent scarring.” Additionally, Dr Harris “failed to provide any supervision whatsoever.” Likewise, the manufacturer of this peel in question “warns that individuals with dark skin have the highest risk of developing skin discoloration.” Yet, Shamea was not made privy to these details, so she failed to understand “the increased risks for darker skin patients, especially African Americans, with this type of chemical peel.”
Furthermore, Shamea “cried in pain” during her treatment. Dr. Harris, therefore, entered her treatment room, allegedly telling Shamea that “she was being dramatic.” And now, Shamea is seeking unspecified damages from this practice.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is available to stream on Peacock.
