Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne is keeping her new boyfriend John “Shrek” McPhee all to herself for the time being.
While Erika was always very open about sharing her marriage and subsequent divorce from her ex, Tom Girardi, she’s staying mum on the details.
Though photographers caught the pair holding hands on their way to a nail salon back in July, the new couple have yet to walk the red carpet together. And so far, Erika’s not sharing any Instagram photos of her new beau.
Erika Jayne wants to keep her new relationship “special”
“No one’s met him,” Erika told Us Weekly on December 18. “I kind of like it like that because I like him, and I know how bad [being on reality TV is] for your relationship … I would like to keep that relationship special and over here if I could.”
Not only has her new boyfriend never seen the show, but he “doesn’t know anything about it,” she added. And she wants to keep it that way for a bit longer. Even though previews for Season 15 showed John making a quick appearance, it was only on FaceTime. He still hasn’t met any of the cast.
The pair actually met when she was performing in London. As she was in “full costume” at the time, she’s relieved not to “have to spring that on him at a later date.”
“He was there with his friend Spencer Pratt,” Erika continued. “I’d seen John [a couple of] podcasts … I was like, ‘Oh, that’s that guy. I’m gonna walk up and say hello,’ and that’s exactly what I did.”
For now, the couple are negotiating a long distance relationship (he’s based in North Carolina), but they plan to spend the holidays together. “I’m 54 years old,” the Pretty Mess singer explained. “That’s fine. Space is OK.”
