Mary Cosby has had a ton of memorable moments on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Hiding in a Sprinter with a Filet-o-fish sandwich to avoid her co-stars. And will we ever forget her telling Jen Shah that she “smelled “like hospital?” However, when she detailed a tragic car crash to Whitney Rose and her children, it was an unforgettable and upsetting Real Housewives moment.
During the Season 2 RHOSLC episode, Mary explained that the daughter of members of her church was involved in “a crash.” When Whitney’s daughter asked if the woman lived, Mary responded, while dancing, “No. I’m excited to be here! Wear your seatbelt!”
The family of the deceased called out Mary’s RHOSLC scene
Mary, who reopened Faith Temple Pentecostal Church during Season 6 of RHOSLC, has been accused of allegedly running a cult. Now, TLC is exploring these allegations in a series called The Cult of The Real Housewife. And in a clip shared via TLC, the father of the car crash victim is speaking out.
When a voice off-camera asked the victim’s father, “Can I play you that clip from Housewives?,” he declined. The man responded, “How’d it make me feel? I was angry,” the man stated. “That was an attack on me and my daughter. You have to be one miserable human being to go that low.”
He added, “‘Oh, well. I guess she should wear her seatbelt.’ I saw it. Now that’s the Pastor? No, Sir. Not at all.”
The victim’s father continued to share his pain. “Fortunately, my daughter’s gone. She didn’t have to hear it. It’s unfortunate for my daughter that she loved Mary and Robert [Cosby, Sr.],” he explained. “She loved the church. She kept a doll that Mary bought her when my daughter was a little girl.” That feels like a gut punch.
“Why are you speaking on my daughter anyway? You didn’t send condolences,” the man added.
The Cult of The Real Housewife is streaming on HBO Max and Discovery+, while The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City continues on Bravo, every Tuesday at 8/7c.
