Andy Cohen Honored With Trash Can in New York

Andy Cohen’s got the 411 on all things Bravo. And now, he also has a nearby trash can in Manhattan, dedicated to him by the very city he never swore an oath to entertain. And yet, entertaining us all is exactly what Andy consistently does. So, to honor Andy, he is receiving this literal garbage gift, which is giving Hollywood’s Walk of Fame vibes, just with a whimsically trashy twist.

Andy also got the key to Hudson Square

Watch What Happens Live, Andy’s hit weekly series, films in the Hudson Square neighborhood of NYC. And now, on the corner of Vandam and Hudson streets, there lives a Bigbelly bin, with large printed labels on each side. One side reads “Andy Cohen’s Corner.” While the other declares, “Watch What Happens Live on this Corner.”

Yesterday, The New York Times reported that Andy cut the ribbon on this can. And his good-natured comments made this entire thing even funnier.

“This is hilarious and ironic and layered and wonderful, and I very much believe in picking up trash, so I’m proud to have my name on this trash can right here on this corner,” Andy joked. Right after, he broke the bin in with his used banana peel, hysterically (and factually) quipping, “You think Stephen Colbert has a trash can named after him?” He doesn’t.

At the comical ceremony for this trash can, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal next handed Andy a shiny plaque, declaring Jan. 6, 2025, as “Andy Cohen Day.” He then blessed Andy with a key to Hudson Square, which fittingly “opens absolutely nothing.” Even still, Andy thinks “it’s really fun, and I’m really honored, actually.”

“Watch What Happens Live has been down here in Hudson Square for 16 years. No one was really down here when we started. We love this neighborhood, we’re proud to be here,” Andy added. And now, Andy hopes “everyone throws out trash here with a smile.”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday nights on Bravo.
