Season 19 of The Real Housewives of Orange County was tough for Katie Ginella. It was her sophomore season, and the drama was intense. After Katie secretly recorded Shannon Beador, she was already at odds with the cast.
However, when Gretchen Rossi accused Katie of leaking stories to a podcaster, the writing was on the wall. And bombing her lie detector test led to the rest of the RHOC cast refusing to film with her. Poor Katie missed the rest of the season, but showed up for the reunion. Unfortunately, Katie won’t be mixing it up during RHOC’s iconic 20th season.
Katie Ginella is leaving The Real Housewives of Orange County

Obviously, Katie’s firing isn’t a shock after she was “iced out” of the reunion by her RHOC co-stars. Still, Katie had a sliver of hope that would keep her orange. “I think maybe there’s a possibility of a fresh start after the reunion. That’s what everybody hopes, right?” she previously stated.
Katie shared the sad news via Instagram. “After two seasons as a cast member on RHOC, the network has decided to move forward with Season 20 without me. While disappointing, it’s not entirely surprising after seeing how Season 19 played out. I’m incredibly grateful for the love and support I received – it was seen, felt, and deeply appreciated,” Katie wrote over a glam photo of herself in a hot-pink dress.
Katie, who was the first Asian American cast member of RHOC, continued, “Representation matters, and I’m proud to have shown up authentically, even when it wasn’t easy. This chapter may be closing, but my voice and my story don’t end there.” In the comments, her RHOC star Tamra Judge wrote, “I love you. Thankful for our friendship!” And Katie’s husband, Matt Ginella, commented, “Love you more than ever. Onward! (With a lot less tears and toxicity.)”
The Real Housewives of Orange County is streaming on Peacock.
