Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby has released a statement following the tragic death of her son Robert Cosby Jr. He died at 23 years of age.
“”Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow,” she said.
Police responded to an emergency call at Robert Cosby Jr.’s home
Robert died on Monday in Utah, and no cause of death has been given. Police responded to a possible overdose, but upon arrival, were investigating a death, according to TMZ.
RHOSLC has seen Robert Jr.’s struggles with addiction play a part within the show. Season 5 saw Mary sit down with her son and get emotional as he got vulnerable about his drug taking. It was something she later called the “best” thing she’d done on the show, as it helped other people.
In recent months, Robert Jr. was plagued with legal issues. His wife filed for divorce, and he was sent to prison for alleged assault of his ex, Alexiana Smokoff. She claimed he hit, kicked, and choked her after she flushed his drugs down the toilet.
Mary appeared at the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6 reunion, and once again got teary as she discussed her son’s troubles. She was “happy” he was behind bars, as it kept him away from the streets.
