Robert Cosby Jr.’s former wife is reacting to the tragic news of his death. Alexiana Smokoff and the son of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, Mary Cosby, married in August 2022 after eloping together. The relationship was chaotic, with both parties struggling with substance abuse.
Alexiana filed for divorce in November 2025, shortly after Robert violated a protective order. The divorce concluded in January 2026. He was incarcerated at the time, and released on February 3. Tragically, Robert Jr. passed away a few weeks later on February 23, at the age of 23.

Now, an insider is sharing Alexiana’s reaction to her former husband’s death, and reflecting on how their time in rehab put them on different paths forward.
“Alexiana knows he passed away. She is pretty shaken up,” a source told Us Weekly. “Everyone is upset. Everyone loved Robert.”
“[Alexiana] put herself through rehab, she has a really good job and she has a different direction,” the insider added. “She wanted to get her life together, she wanted to get straight. She wanted a clean [slate].”
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in Decemeber 2024, Mary revealed that Robert Jr. “did go to rehab.” The RHOSLC star added, “He stayed for a month. He completed it and did an excellent job. He came out a new person. [Alexiana is] still in there.”
Mary and her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., have received an outpouring of love and support from the public in the wake of their son’s tragic death. Many praised the reality TV star for shining a light on addiction, and how Robert Jr.’s struggles affected the family.
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” Mary addressed her son’s death. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
