Dancing with the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy was recently hospitalized. The fan-favorite dancer felt ill during the Dancing with the Stars Live! tour. He spent some time in the hospital and missed one performance.
“I’ve just been having vertigo for the last couple of days,” Val explained at the time. “And so, on the bus when it’s moving, you know, and I woke up, and I couldn’t get myself together.”
After a day of rest, Val has a positive update for DWTS fans about his diagnosis. It seems that Val is on the mend and ready to hit the stage.

In an Instagram video posted on March 3, Val said, “What up, my beautiful people? So I got BPPV, which isn’t too bad, thank God. There’s no tumor in my brain, God forbid.”
The three-time Mirrorball champ continued, “And thankfully, it’s not related to my neck injury. And so, having ruled those things out, I feel a lot better. I’m back in the show tonight.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is a type of vertigo. It is diagnosed by using the Dix-Hallpike maneuver, which is a test involving head movement. Meanwhile, the Epley maneuver, also known as canalith repositioning, can help cure BPPV. It involves a series of specific head movements. In fact, Val revealed in his video message that he did use the Epley maneuver.
“I’m still a little fuzzy here and there, but good enough to perform. And I’ll see you all tonight. I love you,” Val stated in his social media post. “We back, baby. We back.” So, true to form, Val was back onstage at the tour stop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on March 3.
Hopefully, Val continues to get some rest so he can dazzle his fans during the tour, which is set to wrap in May.
