Whoopi Goldberg has no time for Harvey Weinstein. In today’s episode of The View, she quickly shut down a conversation about the disgraced filmmaker. He is currently serving time in the notorious Rikers Island jail on charges of sexual assault.
Whoopi is fed up of talking about the disgraced filmmaker
On the March 11 episode of The View, the presenters discussed a new interview that Harvey gave to The Hollywood Reporter from prison. In it, the disgraced Hollywood mogul – who is serving a lengthy custodial sentence – insisted that he is innocent.
The chat began with the hosts commenting on how Harvey seemingly has “no clue” how “heinous” he was to women. But one host who didn’t want to give him any airtime at all was Whoopi. She said that “talking about him” is “skeevy.”
“I don’t want to talk about him anymore today. We’ll be right back,” Whoopi said as the show cut to a commercial break.
Harvey was once an influential film producer but became the central figure of the #MeToo movement in 2017 after decades of sexual misconduct came to light. He has since had several trials and appeals but is now serving 39 years in prison across two separate convictions.
Speaking about his sentence in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harvey said the thought of dying in prison “scares the sh*t” out of him. “I’m going to be 74 in March. I don’t want to die in here.”
Elsewhere in the interview, he accused the women who came forward against him of doing it for the money. “All anyone had to do to walk off with a check was fill out a form that said I sexually assaulted them,” he alleged. “So they filled it out, and the insurance company eventually paid out tens of millions of dollars.”
