If you watched last night’s episode of Summer House, then you are likely wishing a good morning to everyone but Kyle Cooke. His marriage to Amanda Batula is crumbling right before our very eyes. But his behavior last night definitely crossed a line. And that line left Amanda feeling more dejected than ever.
As Amanda defeatedly explained, she has been “dealing with this for over 10 years” now. Trying to correct Kyle’s behaviors will only “make things worse.” Thankfully, after their cameras went down, Kyle and Amanda pulled the plug on their broken marriage. Season 10 will be their final season as a married couple on Summer House.
Nevertheless, ahead of last night’s episode, Andy Cohen gave fans a proper warning. This was Kyle’s “worst episode in ten seasons,” Andy teased, since he gets to watch these episodes ahead of us. But now, after watching this mess, I have to agree. Here’s what happened.
Kyle accused Amanda Batula of not supporting him

Amanda always wanted a stable marriage, complete with a reliable husband who prioritized their home life, not the club life. Yet, Kyle yearns for the streets. So, rather than trying to meet Amanda somewhere in the middle, he decided to take on gigs as a late-night DJ instead. Unrelated, or perhaps not, once he tried showcasing his new talents for his housemates, everything quickly started going downhill for Kyle.
Episode 8 followed the Summer House stars along for a boozy night out in the Hamptons. Once they returned home, DJ Kyle started spinning a few tracks. But eventually, everyone, Amanda included, trickled outside toward the hot tub, which Kyle hated. “They kind of ditched me,” Kyle said in his talking head, “And right now, I don’t know how else to explain just how, like, isolated and alone I feel, by my wife.”
So, Kyle headed outside with a Bluetooth speaker, seemingly hellbent on getting at least one DJ scene in this week. But, laughably, right as he did so, everyone headed off to their beds. Only, Kyle was not laughing. Instead, he grew heated at Amanda for not being “supportive,” and then, he shouted, “F*ck you” and stormed off.
Kyle then berated his now-estranged wife on the show

Thankfully, several stars clocked Kyle after he cursed at Amanda, but sadly, their words did nothing to temper his reactions. Later, when they were alone, Kyle popped off once again. As their hot mic picked up, Kyle threw many insults Amanda’s way, including one grotesque “You’re a f*cking dumbass b*tch” remark.
“Yes, I’m a dumbass b*tch, Kyle,” Amanda dryly replied. She then went to bed alone, crying. Afterward, a sober Kyle appeared in his confessional, trying to mansplain away his behaviors.
“There’s no excuse to, you know, drop the F-bomb and say ‘F you’ to your wife,” Kyle admitted. “But, like, I’m only human. I can only go so long getting the cold shoulder, you know, getting, like, the small-but-steady jabs. I used to think it was all in my own head, until I watched some of these summers back.”
“Now I pick up on these jabs in real time. It doesn’t even matter if we’re having a good night; I still get jabbed. And it has just been piling up, and piling up, and piling up. It’s one thing if you’re in a funk, but if you’re having a blast with everybody but me, it’s just sad,” Kyle further deflected.
How did Amanda react to Kyle’s rant?

After Kyle launched his first “F*uck you” at Amanda, their housemates’ eyes grew wide. Trying to keep the peace, Amanda insisted that she was “OK.” Nothing could help this situation, Amanda realized. Therefore, she encouraged everyone to let this mess go.
“We’re gonna act [as if] nothing happened and we’re gonna all celebrate Kyle’s birthday tomorrow,” Amanda instructed. “I don’t want this to be a thing.” But in her confessional, she had several other points to make.
“Literally, what is the point of talking about this? It’s only gonna make things worse. He’s not gonna take accountability. He’s not gonna, like, apologize for what he did,” Amanda sighed.
But she also admitted “that it’s wrong, the way that he speaks to me. Like, I’m fully aware of that. I’m not OK with it. I just know that having a conversation about it isn’t gonna go anywhere,” she explained.
In an emotional sit-down with West Wilson, who, no, she is not currently dating, Amanda further said, “I know I’m not perfect, but I’ve literally been dealing with this for over 10 years. Isn’t that crazy? Like, there is a part of me that’s like, this is the best I’m ever gonna do.”
Amanda has since shed this way of thinking.
