Rihanna recently made RIAA history by becoming the first woman to exceed 200 million RIAA singles certifications as of Wednesday, April 15. This is not the first time the singer achieved a major RIAA milestone. Back in 2015, the artist became the very first woman to make RIAA history with more than 100 million certified song units.

Rihanna recently made fans overjoyed by making RIAA History by surpassing 200 million singles certifications. The “Umbrella” singer holds the third position with 200.5 million units on the all-time RIAA list. The second spot is held by Morgan Wallen with 215 million units. In the meantime, Drake is in the first spot with 277.5 million units.
Meanwhile, Rihanna has refrained from releasing a new album for ten years now. Her last album, titled “ANTI,” made its debut in 2016. In recent years, the singer recorded the song “Lift Me Up” for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” She also dropped the song “Friends of Mine” for the 2025 animated film, “Smurfs.”
Meanwhile, Rihanna opened up about what she wants from her next music release in a 2025 interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine. The singer expressed that she was feeling “really good about” the next music project. The artist continued, “There’s no genre now. That’s why I waited.” She further explained, “Every time, I was just like, ‘No, it’s not me. It’s not right. It’s not matching my growth.'”
Rihanna then said, “After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears.” She continued, “It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait.” The entertainer added, “I cannot put up anything mediocre.”
