Robert F. Kennedy Jr., popularly known as RFK Jr., has come to the defense of President Donald Trump following his controversial threat against Iran earlier this month. The HHS Secretary addressed the remark, calling it a “message of love and compassion.”
RFK Jr. defends Donald Trump’s threat to Iran
During a House hearing on Friday, April 17, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confronted by Democratic lawmakers about Donald Trump’s recent controversial threat to end Iran’s “whole civilization.” In response, the Secretary of Health and Human Services defended Trump’s statement, calling it “nuanced.”
California Rep. Mark Takano asked RFK Jr. if Trump should “undergo an assessment of his mental fitness and his emotional stability” or be removed by invoking the 25th Amendment. “Absolutely not,” the HHS Secretary replied. The President is “a genius at” international relations and the “best business bargainer that we’ve ever had in the presidency,” he said (via PEOPLE).
Kennedy went on to reference Trump’s controversial Truth Social post on April 7, where he wrote, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” Defending the statement, the U.S. Secretary said, “It was clear that he was sending a nuanced message.”
“He was sending a message of brute force and violence to the mullahs to incentivize them to change, but also sending a message of love and compassion to the Iranian people,” Kennedy continued. “So you can look at it and say, ‘Oh, it’s insane that he’d make this kind of threat.’ But he’s a dealmaker. He’s a bargainer,” he added.
Most recently, Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran ahead of the ongoing ceasefire’s expiration on Wednesday. In a Truth Social post on April 19, the President said, “Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz — A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement!” He then announced his decision to send a U.S. delegation to Pakistan for a new round of negotiations.
In conclusion, Trump threatened, “We’re offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don’t, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!”
