Katy Perry Not Protected by Statute of Limitations in Ruby Rose Case

Katy Perry could face charges following the allegations from Ruby Rose. Ruby accused the singer of sexual assault, which she claims happened in Melbourne in 2010. Because Australia has no statute of limitations, Katy could be charged if police find evidence to support Ruby’s accusation.

No evidence of a crime has yet been revealed by investigators

Ruby recently alleged that Katy had sexually assaulted her at a club in Melbourne 2010. Posting on Threads, she claimed the singer had “rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face.” She said she was laying with her head in a friend’s lap at the time, adding that the incident caused her to throw up.

Katy hasn’t been charged regarding the incident, but Australian police are reportedly investigating the claims. It may have allegedly taken place 16 years ago, but there’s no statute of limitations to protect Katy from punishment if evidence is found.

Jacqueline Harris, a rep for the Office of Public Prosecution in Victoria, Australia, told TMZ that the timeframe is irrelevant. She explained: “There is no statute of limitations on prosecuting indictable (serious) crimes in Victoria. The law at the time the alleged offence was committed applies to criminal proceedings and sentencing for historical offences.”

Ruby recently told fans she can’t discuss the alleged incident any more as she’s filed a police report. If the police find any evidence to support the claims, they will then pass the case to prosecutors, who may bring charges against Katy.

Meanwhile, Katy has denied the allegations via her rep, who told TMZ: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies.”

The rep added that Ruby “has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals. Claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
