President Donald Trump has lashed out at US media coverage of the Iran war. He claimed it gives a misleading impression of how the war is actually unfolding. His post came just days before a ceasefire deadline, with tensions still high and talks ongoing.
Donald Trump has a message for US media
Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday, criticizing what he called “Anti-America Fake News Media.” He argued that media reports make it seem like the United States is struggling in the war against Iran.
According to Trump, “If you read the Anti-America Fake News Media, you would actually think we are losing the War.” The president even cited the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. Even slammed them with his own iteration of their names. He continued, “The enemy is confused, because they get these same Media ‘reports,’ and yet they realize their Navy has been completely wiped out. Their Air Force has gone onto darker runways. They have no Anti Missile or Anti Airplane Equipment. Their former leaders are mostly gone (This has been, in addition to everything else, Regime Change!).” Trump added, “Most important of all, THE BLOCKADE, which we will not take off until there is a ‘DEAL,’ is absolutely destroying Iran.”
Donald Trump did not limit his US media criticism to operational coverage. He further accused the news media of taking an adversarial stance that aligns with interests outside the nation. He drew a parallel between the current coverage and what he described as media opposition during his previous election campaigns.
“The Anti-America Fake News Media is rooting for Iran to win, but it’s not going to happen, because I’m in charge! Just like these unpatriotic people used every ounce of their limited strength to fight me in the Election, they continue to do so with Iran. The result will be the same — It already is!” he stated.
The statement was posted amid a fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, which is set to expire on Wednesday evening.
