Lori Chavez-DeRemer praises Donald Trump amid resign
Chavez-DeRemer took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce her departure from the “historic” administration and expressed gratitude for getting to work for what she called the greatest president of her lifetime.
Reflecting on her journey in the cabinet, she added, “At the Department of Labor, I am proud that we made significant progress in advancing President Trump’s mission to bridge the gap between business and labor and always put the American worker first. We created new pathways to mortgage-paying jobs, prepared workers to excel in the age of AI, took steps to lower prescription drug costs, promoted retirement security, and so much more.”
She recalled the times of her first job when she used to pack peaches in rural California. Plus, she revealed that the job taught her the value of hard work, which she has carried throughout her career and would continue to do so in her public service roles moving forward. She added that they live in the “best country” in the world while expressing her gratitude for the opportunity.
Extending thanks to the president, she added, “Thank you, President Trump. While my time serving in the Administration concludes, it doesn’t mean I will stop fighting for American workers.” She looks forward to the future and reveals that she’s moving to the private sector. Keith Sonderling will take her place as the acting Secretary of Labor.
