With the annual Met Gala set to take place next month, you might assume the guest list has been finalized. Well, apparently not according to Meghan Markle. Sources say the Duchess is clinging on to the hope that her invite has just been lost in the mail.
The Duchess of Sussex “refuses to accept it’s not going to happen”
The Met Gala takes place on May 4 this year. This year’s guest list includes a wealth of familiar faces, but a certain Duchess won’t be walking that red carpet.
Meghan has apparently failed to score a ticket to this year’s event. But insiders say she hasn’t given up hope yet. A source told Radar Online: “Meghan is still convinced her invite is coming. She refuses to accept it’s not going to happen.”
The apparent snub could be the result of the rumored tension between her and Vogue legend Anna Wintour. The former editor apparently got fed up with Meghan’s alleged diva-like demands and desperation for a Vogue cover, leading to the pair having a fall-out in 2022.
The pair were spotted together during Paris Fashion Week last October, a reunion that the Duchess apparently thought went well. The source said: “Meghan says she and Anna had such a lovely moment in Paris last year, and Anna gave the impression that all the bad blood was water under the bridge.
“Anna even complimented her outfit and talked about how they needed to get together for drinks. It was totally positive, so in Meghan’s view, it just doesn’t make sense that she and Harry would be left off the list.”
However, those invites are still MIA. As the insider notes: “It’s getting harder to deny that this isn’t a deliberate snub.”
The source concluded: “Meghan’s holding out for a last-minute change. But the longer it goes on, the harder it is to ignore that yet again she and Harry have not been included in the cool crowd. It’s humiliating.”
