Kate Middleton was recently crowned the best-dressed of 2026, but Meghan Markle didn’t make the list. This marks the first time since 2022 that the Princess of Wales has claimed the top spot. In recent years, she avoided public appearances due to her health struggles. Now that she has returned to public duties, she continues to showcase her grace and outstanding fashion sense at several high-profile occasions.
Kate Middleton wins the title of best dressed in 2026
Tatler announced that Kate Middleton holds the No. 1 spot in the 2026 best-dressed list. The outlet described her as “Britain’s chicest figure,” further praising how her fashion choices “light up royal occasions.” They highlighted how the Princess of Wales was a bit away from the spotlight in recent years due to health issues. However, they noted that she nevertheless emerged back on top as a “Brit-fashion heroine.”
The outlet also highlighted her standout fashion moments, right from her Nigerian state visit to Wimbledon. Last year, the title was won by Lady Lola Bute and actress Jazzy de Lisser. Earlier this year, it was reported that she remains “very much in control” of her wardrobe. This came after her longtime stylist Natasha Archer’s departure.
Later, a source claimed that Middleton has no plans on hiring another stylist as of yet. She would reportedly take care of her fashion herself. They said to PEOPLE, “Kate has always been very involved in choosing her outfits for royal engagements, but now she is so confident, she knows exactly what suits her and what doesn’t.” Another source revealed that she styles on her own and only takes logistical assistance from her staff.
However, what caught many’s attention was Markle’s snub from the list. It came as a shock given the Duchess of Sussex’s interest in fashion and styling. “The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date, because I do think that’s an interesting space for me,” she once said via The Daily Express.
