Tim Cook Earns Donald Trump’s Praise as He Stands Down From Apple CEO Role

Donald Trump has taken to social media to share some kind words about Apple’s outgoing CEO, Tim Cook. He has been in the role for 11 years, since taking over following the death of founder Steve Jobs.

In his post online, the US President spoke of his and Tim’s “nice relationship.” He even recalled a time that the Apple businessman phoned him to “kiss” his “ass.”

President Trump called the outgoing Apple CEO “almost incomparable”

This week, it was announced that Tim will transition from Apple’s CEO to an executive chairman of the board. Tim’s role switch is due to take place on September 1, and he will be replaced by John Ternus. The new CEO has been at Apple for 25 years and is currently the head of hardware engineering.

So, what did Trump have to say about Tim? Well, perhaps surprisingly, it was all pretty pleasant stuff.

“I have always been a big fan of Tim Cook, and likewise, Steve Jobs,” the president began his post on Truth Social. “But if Steve was not taken from the Planet Earth so young, and ran the company instead of Tim, the company would have done well, but nowhere near as well as it has under Tim.”

Speaking about how his friendship with Tim began, Trump explained that it started with a phone call during his first term. “He had a fairly large problem that only I, as President, could fix,” Trump said. “I was very impressed with myself to have the head of Apple calling to ‘kiss my ass’.”

Ass-kissing aside, Trump went on to sing Tim’s praises. “Tim Cook had an AMAZING career, almost incomparable, and will go on and continue to do great work for Apple, and whatever else he chooses to work on,” he said at the end of his post. “Quite simply, Tim Cook is an incredible guy!!!”
