In case you didn’t realize, today is a very special day! Why? Well, Prince Louis just turned eight years old … if you can believe it.
To celebrate the milestone occasion, Kate Middleton and Prince William took to social media to share a new image of the youngster. And, unsurprisingly, royal fans were absolutely obsessed with the portrait.

“Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today!” the caption of a post on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Instagram account reads. In the pic, captured by photographer and filmmaker Matt Porteous, Louis beams at the camera with a big grin.
In the comment section, royal fans had plenty of well-wishes for the young prince. “Happy Birthday, little Louis! I hope you have an amazing day filled with love and happiness,” someone shared. “Aww, what a brilliant picture!! Can’t believe he’s 8 already. Happiest birthday to our handsome Prince Louis,” added another.
Elsewhere, other fans pointed out how similar Louis looks to his older brother, Prince George. “For a moment I thought it was George!!” someone commented. “Can’t believe how alike they are,” another person said. “The more they grow, the more they look alike,” agreed a third.
In a follow-up post, Kate and William shared another birthday message for their youngest son. The Instagram Reel featured a montage of videos of Louis on vacation at the seaside. “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis,” they said in the caption, adding: “8 is great!”
It has become customary for the Waleses to share new images of the family on birthdays and other special occasions. Often, these are images that Kate – who is quite the amateur photographer – has captured herself.
