Spandau Ballet Singer Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison for Disgusting Sex Charges

A famed new wave singer will spend a significant amount of time behind bars. On Thursday, Ross Davidson was sentenced to 14 years in prison on a list of disturbing charges, including rape, voyeurism and recording a victim without consent. The offences date back to 2019.

The 38-year-old who rose to fame in the UK band Spandau Ballet was previously found guilty of rape and sexual assault with six women. Shockingly, some of these assault allegations state that some women were asleep when this occurred. The musician has maintained his innocence despite the ruling.

He may deny it, but the court isn’t buying Ross’s pleas. On Thursday, Judge John Dodd KC called out the famed singer. The case covered by The Independent quoted the Judge as saying, “you (Ross) were also behaving to women in a wholly disgraceful manner,” while at the height of his fame between 2013 and 2019. He added that Ross treated these women who cared for and loved him “without respect.”

All six of the victims in the matter alleged that Ross abused their trust. The singer made headlines in 2021 when he was seen smirking during his arrest. He shook his head in disbelief with a grin on his face as the charges were read. His sentencing comes months after another prominent celebrity, Russell Brand, had more charges laid against him. In December, an additional rape and sexual assault charge was laid against the actor.

Word is that Ross previously filmed himself raping one woman, with the video recovered from his phone. Prosecutor Richard Hearnden says that in some of the other videos found, Ross’ victims were “as vulnerable as can be.”

Five of his victims attended Ross’ hearing. The singer just sat reading a book in the dock as statements about the trauma his victims incurred were heard in court. Thursday’s sentencing took place at Wood Green Crown Court.
