Donald Trump Has Unexpected Reason for Not Wearing Bulletproof Vest

Donald Trump has seemingly chosen not to wear a bulletproof vest and spoke about the reason why while taking questions from the media on April 30. This comes after the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, from which he was evacuated by the Secret Service.

Donald Trump refuses to wear bulletproof vest

Donald Trump recently spoke to the media at a ceremony in the Oval Office for the signing of an Executive Order and addressed the questions about him wearing a bulletproof vest.

During the ceremony, a reporter asked Trump whether his administration was considering putting him in a bulletproof vest following the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. However, Trump didn’t seem to be a fan of the idea and said, “I don’t know if I can handle looking 20 pounds heavier. If you want to gain 20 to 25 pounds, get a West vest.”

On April 25, the Secret Service evacuated the President from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner when a shooting attempt took place. The suspected gunman was caught by security and now faces charges of attempting to assassinate the President. Following the incident, Trump held a press conference in which he spoke about the suspect and described them as “a very sick person.”

As per Vanity Fair, Trump said, “The man has been captured, they’re going to his apartment. I guess he lives in California. He’s a sick person, a very sick person. I’ve studied assassinations… The people that do the most, the people that make the biggest impact, they’re the ones that they go after. I hate to say I’m honored by that, but I’ve done a lot, we’ve done a lot. We’ve taken this country—we were a laughing stock for years, and now we’re the hottest country…I think that’s the reason.”
