Video of Masked Person Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home Raises Concerns

As investigators continue to look for updates in Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping, a new Ring camera video from the Catalina Foothills has stirred concern around the case. It has been 3 months since the 84-year-old mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie disappeared in the early hours of January 31. While this footage does not appear to show anything related to the case, its location has caught people’s attention. It is captured less than a mile from Guthrie’s neighborhood, where residents have been living in fear.

Footage of masked person near Nancy Guthrie’s home stealing plants sparks renewed interest in case

News 4 Tucson reported that the video — although it does not directly add to the updates of Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping case — is from just before 11 p.m. on April 29. It shows a gray Ford F-150 pulling into a “private driveway” and reveals a person in a mask, wearing gloves and a baseball cap. They get out of the car, walk toward the front of the home, and take several potted cacti before loading them into the truck — a chilling scene that the homeowner posted to the Ring app.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department told News 4 Tucson it had “not been advised of anything like” the plant theft at the time of the report. Besides, there is reportedly no evidence that the person in the video has any connection to Guthrie’s disappearance. But neighbors in the Foothills could not ignore the sight.

One neighbor told the station, “It is someone walking on your property late at night, uninvited,” adding, “it might be a small crime, but committing a crime, and it is disturbing.” The neighbor said that “we have to be watchful, be aware of our homes but also of our neighbors.”

Nancy Guthrie’s family filed her missing person report on February 1 after she did not attend church, and authorities suspect a kidnapping case. Now, this new footage has only added to the worry and concern about the Tucson neighborhood.
