Hugh Jackman’s 2026 Met Gala appearance with Sutton Foster deserved attention, but sources claim that Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, was not happy with the sighting. On May 4, Jackman and Foster attended the 2026 Met Gala together, stepping out as a couple at one of the most-watched events of the year, which, for many, was an indication that this relationship has become a major part of Jackman’s new life. That is also why the outing reportedly hit a nerve for Furness.

Woman’s Day reported that the Met Gala had long been a meaningful night for Hugh Jackman and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, during their marriage — but this time, the “Deadpool & Wolverine” actor attended the event with Sutton Foster. A source close to the former couple told the outlet, “Of course it burns to see Hugh there with Sutton on his arm.”
They added, “That was always their special night of nights and one of the few she actually enjoyed.”
Jackman and Furness announced their separation in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage, finalizing their divorce in June 2025, and since then, Jackman’s relationship with Sutton has become quite open. Now, their Met Gala outing stands as one of their biggest public moments yet.
The source also noted, “It was as recently as 2023 that it was her and Hugh walking up those stairs, so it’s hard for her to see this,” with the report claiming that Jackman gave his ex-wife advance notice that he would be bringing Foster. Nonetheless, that reportedly did little to soften the impact.
Moreover, Woman’s Day reported that Foster appeared to show off “a huge sparkling ring,” which fueled chatter that the couple may be engaged, though there has been no public confirmation from either of them.
All in all, the 2026 Met Gala appearance marked Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s first time at the event together.
