Although Dancing with the Stars Season 35 likely won’t premiere for another four months, Mark Ballas is already planning ahead. He’s looking forward to working with Traitors alum Maura Higgins.
“There’s going to be moments where it’s fun and it’s wild, [but there will also be] moments where it’s really hard. Where it’s stressful [and] you’re exhausted. Where you’re beat up—especially if you make it past week six, which we call the ‘trench.’”
However, Mark believes Maura has an edge that could take her far in the competition.
Mark calls Maura a “blank canvas”

“A really smart way to approach Dancing With the Stars [is to] be open-minded, have fun. Be a ‘blank slate’ person,” Mark told EOnline. “Maura is just a laugh, and she’s up for it … So I think she’s going to do really well.”
Mark, who is currently starring as Billy Flynn in Chicago on Broadway, promised to be there for Maura in any way he can. The two became acquainted while competing on Season 4 of The Traitors.
“I will always be able to answer the phone if she needs a pep talk and some extra little bit of guidance,” he shared. “But I think she’s going to be amazing.”
As for the Love Island USA alum, she feels like she manifested being on DWTS. “I have a vision board and I redo it every year,” Maura said at the Time 100 Most Influential Gala on April 23. “This … is the first year that I stayed at home by myself on New Year’s Eve. I did not go out at all. I made myself a bowl of pasta and a glass of red wine, and I redid my vision board for the year.”
“Dancing with the Stars was already on it from the year before,” she continued. “However, I added five more Dancing with the Stars on the board … If you want something,” Maura advised, “stick it on about five or six times, and then it’s gonna happen.”
Dancing with the Stars is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
