Donald Trump Shows off His Golf Skills To Kids

At a White House event meant to celebrate youth fitness, President Donald Trump attempted to demonstrate his golf skills before a group of student-athletes. However, the showcase didn’t go as planned. The president missed several short attempts before walking away from the green.

A kids’ fitness event on the South Lawn brought together young athletes to celebrate the revival of the Presidential Physical Fitness Award, a program that had been discontinued under the Obama administration. Students participated in exercise drills and various sports activities, including golf. At one point, Donald Trump approached the putting green and tried to sink multiple putts. He missed each attempt and eventually stepped back without holing a single shot.

Later, inside the Oval Office, Trump signed a proclamation for National Physical Fitness and Sports Month and addressed the children with a talk about his own approach to exercise. “I work so hard on a personal basis. I work out so much—like about one minute a day max if I’m lucky,” he joked. His most recent physical listed him at 224 pounds and 6 feet 3 inches.

Golf remains the exception to Trump’s otherwise publicly known minimal exercise routine. According to tracking data, he has played golf on 106 of the 471 days since returning to office, roughly a quarter of that time. The Trump Organization owns 15 golf courses, each branded with his name, though several properties have faced allegations of health code violations and workplace misconduct, as reported by Golfweek.

Furthermore, Trump also talked to the children about Iran’s nuclear program. “We can’t let Iran have a nuclear weapon. You might be too young for this,” he quipped. “They probably know. They probably know better than most people, but you can’t let a bunch of lunatics have a nuclear weapon, or the world would be in trouble. The world would be in trouble” (via The Daily Beast).

The president also seemed to be sleeping as cabinet members spoke about fitness.
