Donald Trump made an appearance alongside First Lady Melania Trump with a bruised hand to honor the military moms ahead of the Mother’s Day celebration. This is not the first time, as Trump’s scarred hand has been seen on multiple occasions, including recently in March 2026, when he attended the Markwayne Mullin swearing-in ceremony. He has previously addressed what caused the bruise and what he applies to it to conceal it.
Donald Trump’s bruised hand with makeup spotted during event
Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, summoned the military moms to an event at the White House to pay tribute to them just ahead of Mother’s Day. During the celebration, what particularly caught everyone’s attention was Trump’s bruised hands, which seemed to be covered with makeup.
In the captured photos, both of his hands appeared swollen and had makeup on them. However, the creams used to conceal the bruises on both hands differed from each other and didn’t match his skin tone. The White House did not address the bruise, but they lauded the president’s personality, saying, “[He’s] the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history” (via The Daily Beast).
While such noticeable bruises have garnered concerns around his health, Trump had earlier addressed the debate around his well-being and brushed off the speculations. He said that he has “perfect health.” At the time, he admitted that he takes a higher dosage of aspirin than what is recommended by the doctors. He revealed that the effects of aspirin bruised his hand frequently and led him to use makeup to conceal it.
Earlier this year, Trump again debunked health concerns, revealing that he bumped his fingers into the furniture when he appeared with a bruise during WEF in Switzerland. He said to CNN, “I clipped it on the table. I put a little — what do they call it? — cream on it. But I clipped it.” The White House echoed similar thoughts, claiming the scar was caused when the president hit his hand on the corner of the signing table.
