Brendan Fraser talks working on getting fit for The Mummy 4

Brendan Fraser has opened up about his fitness journey for The Mummy 4, detailing how he’s preparing to embody Rick O’Connell again after 20 years. The actor noted he is doing his best to prepare physically for the Universal sequel.

“Well, we’re gonna get the band back together,” he confirmed during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “The only way to do it. So, we are going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for, for the last twenty-whatever years.”

“I was hopeful for a long while, and then I was like, ‘I don’t know if they are.’ Then other Mummy movies got made. But listen, what we’re gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations—I should probably stop talking like this, because I don’t want to give everything away, ” Fraser added.

“However, please wish me luck. I’m doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape,” the Rental Family actor told Fallon.

Fan reactions to the X (formerly Twitter) post were instant, with one tweeting, “Cinema is healing. Brendan Fraser back in The Mummy just feels right.” “He looks like Rick O’ Connell again,” echoed another. “Definitely looking forward to it I loved the mummy movies,” commented yet another fan.

In February 2026, Deadline reported that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will return for a new Mummy film at Universal. Fraser and Weisz had previously co-starred in The Mummy in 1999 and The Mummy Returns in 2001. Radio Silence is directing the film from David Coggeshall’s screenplay, with the film set to hit theaters on May 19, 2028.
