A new survey into whether American adults think President Donald Trump could beat an eight-year-old boy yielded some fascinating results. The offbeat idea came after Donald Trump asked a young boy, “You think you could take me in a fight?” at a White House event about physical fitness. Interestingly, the answer varies wildly based on the respondents’ political affiliation and belief system.

YouGov held a survey asking adult Americans whether they thought an eight-year-old boy, a typical American, and themselves could win a physical fight with Donald Trump. The response to these questions yielded some fascinating observations.
About winning a fight with an eight-year-old boy, 31 percent of Americans believed the eight-year-old could beat Donald Trump, while 45 percent of American adults backed the 79-year-old President. 24 percent said they weren’t sure.
But the results of this far-fetched survey saw a huge discrepancy in opinions between Democrats and Republicans.
Among Democrats, a larger share, 54 percent, claimed that an eight-year-old would be able to beat President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, 26 percent picked Trump, and 20 percent said they were unsure.
On the other side, only six percent of Republicans chose the eight-year-old boy over the President, while a whopping 72 percent of Republicans believed Trump would win the fight against the kid.
Compared to Democrats and Republicans, Independent voters were more evenly split, with 33 percent picking the eight-year-old, 37 percent picking the President, and 30 percent being unsure.
In the same survey, YouGov also asked if an average American would beat Trump. 66% of U.S. adults said that an average American would have the upper hand, while 10% say Trump would win. This question, and the other question about whether the respondents could beat Trump themselves, had varying results based on whether they were Republicans, Independents, or Democrats, as well.
