Donald Trump recently welcomed guests to the Rose Garden. The US president bragged about the changes he has made to the place. But it seems the makeover was not to his wife, Melania‘s, liking. Trump divulged that he got “heat” from his wife over the project.
Donald Trump reveals he had to ‘take a little heat’ from wife Melania over White House makeover
Donald Trump welcomed his “friends” at a Rose Garden Club dinner on Monday evening. At the event, he addressed the gathering, discussing the changes he’s made to the White House exterior. Trump also claimed that his wife, Melania Trump, was not particularly happy about the newly installed patio.
While gesturing to the “whole new thing,” the president said, “This used to be grass. And I took a little heat from my wife, she said, uh, ‘Darling, what did you do with my grass?’ I said, ‘People got tired of standing in mud.’”
Elaborating further about the project, Donald Trump revealed that the White House is “built on a wetland. So when it doesn’t—it didn’t have to rain. The grass was always soaking wet,” which created trouble for the reporters during the news conference. “The reporters, they walk out with their shoes. The female reporters, in particular, weren’t thrilled,” he said. To make the surface even, Trump advised to “get a gorgeous stone,” which they are “gonna put this up here. “I don’t know if you got to see. It was just completed with the granite, the black granite,” he added.
And this is not the only makeover the White House is undergoing. According to Reuters, Trump has said his planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom will be “the greatest of its kind ever built” and will match the existing White House in height and scale. The ballroom, which is estimated to cost $400 million, is said to be funded by wealthy individuals and corporations.
Donald Trump has reportedly torn out the bathroom in the Lincoln Bedroom and replaced it with a modern version featuring white and black marble. He is also renovating the Kennedy Center.
