Pete Davidson Faces Backlash From Charlie Kirk’s Friend Over Roast Joke
Charlie Kirk’s friend Andrew Kolvet reportedly berates Pete Davidson over a roast joke. The latter appeared and made a Kirk joke directed at Tony Hinchcliffe during Kevin Hart’s roast. The clip is going viral on X and has already garnered 73K likes, 12K bookmarks, 2.6K reposts, and 801 comments, as of the time of writing.
Davidson remarked, “Tony reminds me of Charlie Kirk, and that’s he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat. Oh you don’t know me? Yeah, ‘Kill Tony.’ Please someone f***ing ‘Kill Tony.’ Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings. I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.”
Andrew Kolvet, a Turning Point USA producer, said on Monday, May 11, that Davidson’s remarks on Kirk reportedly left him feeling disgusted. Kolvet shared that he thought the joke was in poor taste, considering Kirk was fatally shot in broad daylight. He added that he physically cringed when he heard the inappropriate comment disguised as a joke for laughs (via TMZ).
Kolvet clarified that he is not against humor and genuinely believes comedy can be helpful in serious or tense social situations. He pointed out that, in an era when audiences are becoming increasingly “woke,” comedy can help diffuse tensions. However, he thought Davidson reportedly crossed the line and that it was unacceptable in his view.
Fans had varied reactions in the comments. One user commented, “Roast comedy is literally built on saying the most outrageous thing possible. If everyone leaves comfortable, you failed the assignment.” A second fan wrote, “So many snowflakes here can’t take a joke, while Tony is happily taking it on his chin.”
