Jessi Draper has some, ahem, thoughts about her kiss with Chase McWhorter. The pair shocked fans of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives when they shared a kiss, and news of it went viral on social media. Now, Jessi has reflected on the encounter, describing it as “awful.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star spoke of the “awful situation”
“It was awful,” Jessi said on this week’s episode of Hulu’s Get Real podcast.
“I mean, it wasn’t an awful kiss, that sounded bad,” she went on. “But it was just an awful situation.” Nice save.
Elaborating on how it actually unfolded, the mom-of-two said the kiss happened “one time” at a party. She also explained that the timing of their encounter had a big part to play. “The thing with Chase is we had a connection, and I was in a vulnerable state,” she went on, pointing to her separation from Jordan Ngatikaura.
“He was really there for me,” she added of Chase. “I was leaning on him, which was the wrong idea. I had just left [Jordan] and my emotions were so heightened. We were drunk.”
Beyond her split from Jordan, Jessi also said that “MomTok was falling apart during that time.”
“None of the girls were really talking,” she continued, revealing this was another reason she formed a bond with Chase, who is the ex-husband of Miranda Hope, another cast member on SLOMW.
As for how the kiss has impacted her friendship with Miranda, Jessi said that while she “screwed up,” the pair haven’t fallen out over it.
“I’m Team Miranda,” she said firmly. “We haven’t talked about [the kiss] really.”
Nonetheless, Jessi said both she and Chase “regretted” the kiss instantly, and apologized to Miranda for it.
