When The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 6 hits our screens, Taylor Frankie Paul needs to be in the mix. According to Layla Taylor, filming for Season 6 has already started.
Season 5 of SLOMW was paused when Taylor and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, were involved in a domestic violence investigation. As a result, Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette was shelved. In the end, no charges were filed against Taylor. When cameras picked up for SLOMW Season 5, Taylor had limited involvement. While the rest of the cast filmed confessional content, she reportedly only filmed for the opening credits.
Naturally, discussion of Taylor returning to the series has ignited controversy. Some fans feel that since Taylor started MomTok, she needs to be part of the series. Other viewers believe that Taylor burned her bridges with MomTok following these domestic abuse allegations. Still, if Taylor isn’t part of Season 6, SLOMW could be headed for a flop season.
Taylor Frankie Paul has finished her probation and faces no charges
In 2023, Taylor pleaded guilty in abeyance to a charge of aggravated assault. In shocking video footage that resurfaced, Taylor hurled chairs at Dakota, hitting him. Her daughter Indy, with ex-husband Tate Paul, was present during the incident. According to the plea deal, the child abuse charges were dropped.
Recently, Taylor hit up her Instagram to share that she had completed her probation. “Three years probation complete. All my PO’s said it was one of the longest probations they had seen for first time offense,” Taylor captioned the post.
She continued, “DV is a sneaky cycle to get stuck in because by the time you realize what actually is happening you’re already stuck in it. I don’t care if you see me as the villain or victim.”
Meanwhile, the Salt Lake City District Attorney’s Office decided not to file charges against Taylor in two open domestic abuse investigations involving Dakota. These alleged incidents occurred in 2024 and February 2026.
While the mom of three didn’t face any criminal charges, she has been battling with her exes in court. Both Taylor and Dakota were granted restraining orders against each other, and Dakota was given custody of their son, Ever. Taylor has since been given expanded parenting time.
SLOMW viewers deserve to see Taylor’s feuds play out
Naturally, all the drama in Taylor’s personal life resulted in divisions within MomTok. Mikayla Matthews feuded with Taylor on social media after Taylor called her “a snake friend.”
Meanwhile, Taylor’s longtime feud with Whitney Leavitt reignited. Whitney and Taylor butted heads across every season of SLOMW. After Whitney unfollowed Taylor, Taylor accused her of “waiting for her downfall since day one.”
Whitney previously announced that SLOMW Season 5 was her final season, so fans won’t see how this feud plays out. Plus, both Layla and Miranda Hope also unfollowed Taylor. Still, Taylor hit the unfollow button first. As of now, Taylor is currently only following her bestie, Jessi Draper, and former SLOMW cast member Demi Engemann.
Fans of the series are invested in this friend group. Every season, viewers tune in to see if MomTok will survive the latest friendship dramas and wild scandals. The fabric of SLOMW has always been the friendships and falling outs among these mom influencers.
So, Taylor needs to be part of this season, whether in a full-time or part-time capacity. If taking care of her mental health is her priority, then she could appear in a lesser role. However, if Taylor doesn’t film for Season 6, viewers will wonder what really happened between these ladies.
Taylor Frankie Paul should return, but her kids should remain off-camera
Taylor should return to film SLOMW, with one caveat. Her three children should remain off camera. Not only is Taylor fighting with Dakota in court over custody of their son, Ever, but Tate has also headed to the courthouse.
Tate and Taylor share two children, Ocean and Indy. He requested a restraining order against Taylor, which was denied. Taylor’s ex-husband also sought to gain sole custody of their two children. In addition, Taylor is reportedly being investigated by Utah’s Department of Children and Family Services.
This writer recognizes that the well-being of these children should be first and foremost. Domestic violence is never okay, and Taylor should get the help that she needs.
Still, this is Taylor’s life at the moment. Reality TV should showcase what its stars are experiencing, and SLOMW has always managed to feature real and raw issues. It makes sense for Taylor to return part-time to hash out her issues with her co-stars and address everything that has happened this year.
