Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Next Big Netflix Project Revealed

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are diving back into the Netflix world. However, this time, they’re leaving jam jars and celebrity polo matches behind for something far heavier. The Sussexes are now developing a war film based on the Afghanistan memoir “No Way Out: The Searing True Story of Men Under Siege.”

According to PEOPLE, the project will be produced through the couple’s Archewell Productions banner as part of their ongoing first-look deal with Netflix.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will produce an adaptation of No Way Out by Major Adam Jowett

The upcoming film is based on Major Adam Jowett’s memoir about Easy Company, a British military unit sent to hold the center of Musa Qala in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province during a brutal Taliban siege in 2006.

The soldiers reportedly found themselves massively outnumbered while trying to survive the mission. Oscar-nominated writer Matt Charman, best known for Bridge of Spies, is attached to adapt the screenplay.

Harry, Meghan, and Archewell scripted content head Tracy Ryerson will all serve as producers on the project.

The subject matter feels especially personal for Harry. Before royal exits, Netflix deals, and California mansions, the Duke of Sussex spent ten years serving in the British Army and completed two tours in Afghanistan.

Harry was first deployed to Helmand Province in 2007, though his mission was famously cut short after a media leak exposed his location. He later returned for a second deployment in 2012.

Over the years, Harry has spoken openly about how deeply those experiences affected him. In his Netflix docuseries Heart of Invictus, he recalled the emotional impact of seeing wounded soldiers and bodies being transported home after war.

“That was the real trigger,” Harry said during the series while discussing the lasting psychological toll of combat.

The film also marks another major move in the Sussexes’ evolving relationship with Netflix after reports earlier this year claimed the streamer had shifted away from massive multi-project deals in favor of more selective first-look partnerships.

Despite criticism surrounding some of their previous projects, Harry and Meghan continue building out Archewell’s scripted slate. Upcoming adaptations reportedly also include “The Wedding Date” by Jasmine Guillory and “Meet Me at the Lake” by Carley Fortune.
